1. Who we are

Thorvaldsson Games is an independent game developer. We develop and publish games, including titles available on Steam, the Apple App Store, and Google Play. For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable data protection law, we are the data controller for personal data processed in connection with our games and this website.

2. What data we collect and why

We collect gameplay analytics data through Unity Analytics, a service provided by Unity Technologies (a Unity Software Inc. company). This data helps us understand how players engage with our games so we can fix bugs, balance gameplay, and improve future releases.

The data collected may include:

  • Session information (game start and end times, session duration)
  • Device information (operating system, hardware platform, device model)
  • Geographic region (derived from IP address; the full IP address is not stored)
  • In-game events we define (e.g. level completed, puzzle solved)
  • A randomly generated anonymous player ID assigned by Unity

We do not collect your name, email address, Steam username, or any other information that directly identifies you. We do not collect payment information.

3. Legal basis for processing

We process analytics data on the basis of our legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) in understanding how our games are played in order to improve them. We have assessed that this interest is not overridden by your privacy rights, given that:

  • No directly identifying personal data is collected
  • Data is used solely to improve game quality
  • You can object to this processing at any time (see Section 6)

4. Data processor — Unity Technologies

Analytics data is processed by Unity Technologies on our behalf. Unity may process this data on servers located outside the European Economic Area (EEA), including in the United States. Unity relies on Standard Contractual Clauses and other approved transfer mechanisms to ensure adequate protection for data transferred outside the EEA.

For more information on how Unity handles data, see the Unity Privacy Policy .

5. How long we keep data

Aggregated analytics data is retained for as long as it is useful for improving our games. Raw event data processed by Unity is subject to Unity's own retention periods (generally up to 90 days for raw events, with aggregated metrics retained longer). You can request deletion of data associated with your player ID at any time by contacting us.

6. Your rights under GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with applicable data protection law, you have the following rights:

  • Right to access — request a copy of personal data we hold about you
  • Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Right to restriction — request that we limit processing of your data
  • Right to data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interest. If you object, we will stop processing your data for analytics unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

7. This website

This website (thorvaldssongames.com) is a static site and does not use cookies, tracking scripts, or analytics of its own. It is hosted on GitHub Pages; GitHub may collect basic server logs (including IP addresses) as part of normal web hosting operations. See the GitHub Privacy Statement for details.

8. Platform-specific privacy controls

Depending on the platform you use to play our games, additional privacy controls may be available to you:

  • iOS (App Store) — On iOS 14.5 and later, Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework gives you control over cross-app tracking. Our games do not use your advertising identifier (IDFA) for tracking purposes. You can also review and manage data associated with our apps in your iOS device settings.
  • Android (Google Play) — You can request deletion of data associated with our games via the Data deletion request link on our Google Play store listing, or by contacting us directly at [email protected].
  • Steam — Steam's own privacy settings and Valve's Privacy Policy govern data collected by the Steam platform itself. This policy covers only data collected by Thorvaldsson Games.

9. Children's privacy

Our games are not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of our games after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
